I got an early start reading this year's Texas Bluebonnet Award nominees. Unfortunately, I hit a snag. One of the books (that has wonderful reviews) really hung me up. Although I tried to develop an interest, it was very difficult for me to read. However, since I challenge myself yearly to read ALL the nominees, I kept going. The book told three different stories that were interwoven around a very special harmonica. One of the stories--the one that took place during World War II caught my attention so I quickly read the other stories to see how they were related. The book had a great ending with almost all the characters coming together for the finale. Yes! Another one read! And the moral of this post, boys and girls, is to persevere when you set a challenge for yourself. In this case, I got to live three different lives in three different places. What an amazing way to travel through time and space. Enjoy!
